Pensamento
"There is nothing more notable in Socrates than that he found time, when he was an old man, to learn music and dancing, and thought it time well spent." Montaigne

Pensamento
"The truest expression of a people is in its dance and in its music. Bodies never lie."

Yesterday I danced with the students of Music Education at the Belas Artes (School of Music and Arts). Besides visiting my old school, where I studied and later taught for some years, it was an opportunity to divulge the importance of working with the body in Music Education.
Thanks to all participants - see you in two weeks!

"Music starts inside each individual, as well as its instruction. Not with the instrument, not with the first finger or with the first position, or with this or that chord. The beginning is in our own silence, in listening to ourselves, in our own readiness towards the Music, in listening to our own heartbeat or our own breath. As fundamental as that should the introduction to Music begin, as general and as broad, beginning inside, for children as well as for adults,... And it should be emphasized from the very beginning, to avoid misunderstandings, that what we are talking about is not professional instruction, but from the fundamental conditions that should preceed actual music instruction, and every kind of musical practice. We are talking about the preparation, the way to Music, the first clearing, important for any person to whom Music is of significance."(C. Orff: Gedanken über die Musik mit Kindern und Laien. Die Musik-Zeitschrift, 24.Jg. 1932)
